Price: No Cheap Seats, but Some Gaps

Every phone here costs a lot. Among the US prices, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Motorola Razr Fold tie for cheapest at $1,899.99. The iPhone Duo comes next at $1,999, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the most expensive at $2,099.99. In the UK, the Fold 8 starts at £1,699, which undercuts the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at £1,799 and the Ultra at £1,899. The Honor Magic V6 has no listed price. Its review calls it expensive and reports a price rise after the launch period. The Fold 8 and Razr Fold offer the most foldable for the money, but neither is a bargain.

Displays and the Crease

The Razr Fold has the biggest inner screen at 8.1 inches. The Fold 8 Ultra and Pixel 11 Pro Fold follow at 8.0 inches, and the Honor is close behind at 7.95 inches. The Fold 8 and iPhone Duo are the smallest at 7.6 inches. On sharpness, the Ultra's 422ppi beats the Pixel's 374ppi.

The crease is where the field splits. The iPhone Duo's nano-texture matte inner display reportedly makes the crease genuinely hard to see, the strongest claim in this group. Both Samsungs also report reduced creases. The Pixel is the clear loser here, with a crease that is visibly worse than the best rivals.

For cover screens, the Razr Fold wins with a 6.6-inch, 165Hz panel, the largest and fastest here. The Fold 8 (5.5 inches) and iPhone Duo (5.4 inches) have noticeably cramped outer displays by comparison.

Battery Life and Charging

Battery is a two-horse race between the Honor Magic V6 and the Motorola Razr Fold. Reviewers call the Honor's battery life best-in-class among foldables. PCMag calls the Motorola's class-leading for a book-style foldable, backed by the biggest listed cell here at 6,000mAh. The Razr Fold also has the fastest charging in the group: 80W wired and 50W wireless.

The Fold 8 Ultra's 5,000mAh battery is a big step up from its predecessor and beats the Pixel's 4,806mAh. The Pixel's capacity is criticised as modest.

Cameras: Zoom Versus Resolution

If you want optical zoom, choose the Honor Magic V6 or the Razr Fold. Both have a 3x telephoto: Honor uses a 64MP lens, Motorola a 50MP periscope. The Razr's results are described as only average despite its triple 50MP hardware, which gives the Honor the edge on paper.

The Fold 8 Ultra takes a different route. Its 200MP main and 50MP ultrawide cameras push it toward Galaxy S26 Ultra territory. The standard Fold 8 clearly loses here: it has no telephoto, and its cameras are cut back compared with the Ultra. The iPhone Duo's 48MP Dual Fusion system has fewer listed lenses than the triple-camera Honor and Motorola.

Durability and Build

The iPhone Duo has the strongest durability claims: Grade 5 titanium, Ceramic Shield on front and back, and IP68. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Honor Magic V6 also carry IP68, and GSMArena reports IP69 for the Honor. The Fold 8 Ultra trails with only IP48, which its review says lags behind competitors.

On size, the Ultra is slimmer folded than the Fold 8 (8.9mm vs 9.7mm) but heavier (215g vs 201g). The Fold 8's wide passport shape makes one-handed use hard.

Performance and Software

Three phones use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5: both Samsungs and the Honor. The Honor's review reports that it runs hot or throttles under heavy loads. The iPhone Duo has a vapor-cooled A20 Pro chip and runs iOS 27, which has been properly redesigned for the foldable form factor. However, its Split View is limited to two apps, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 allows three. Apple's top-edge volume buttons in landscape are also an awkward placement.

Verdict: Which Foldable Should You Buy?

Best overall: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. It is the highest-rated phone here (4.3). It pairs the sharpest large inner display with flagship-level main and ultrawide cameras and a much bigger battery than before. Just accept the top price and the weaker IP48 rating.

Best for durability and a near-invisible crease: Apple iPhone Duo. Choose it if build quality and screen finish matter more than multitasking.

Best battery and zoom: Honor Magic V6 or Motorola Razr Fold. Pick the Honor for its 64MP telephoto and IP68/IP69 protection. Pick the Razr Fold for its 6,000mAh battery, the fastest charging here, and the best cover screen.

Best for media on a lower budget: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. It ties for the lowest US price, and its video-friendly aspect ratio suits streaming. Skip it if you care about cameras.

Hard to recommend: Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold. It has IP68 and bright screens, but its visible crease, modest battery and lowest rating (3.5) leave it behind the rest.
