Anthropic Goes Public: The S-1 Filing
Anthropic, PBC has filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public offering of its Class A common stock. The filing moves the AI company a step closer to becoming a publicly traded firm.
The company intends to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol "ANT." The public filing did not come out of nowhere. Anthropic first submitted a confidential filing with the SEC in June.

The Financials: $16.3B in Revenue, $80.7B Net Loss
The S-1 gives a first public look at Anthropic's finances. The filing showed $16.3 billion in revenue for the first half of the year.
It also reported an $80.7 billion net loss. According to the filing, that loss was largely driven by noncash accounting charges rather than cash spent on operations.
What Drove Anthropic's 2026 Growth
Anthropic's growth in 2026 came largely from the popularity of Claude Code, its coding-focused product. Several models also contributed to that growth:
- Claude Fable 5
- Mythos 5
Over 90 Pages of Risk Factors
Like most IPO filings, the S-1 includes a long list of potential risks for investors. Anthropic's runs to more than 90 pages of risk factors.
One of them stands out. The company warns of the risk of "material revenue losses" from actions by the Trump administration.
Major Backers and Shareholders
The filing also sheds light on who holds a stake in Anthropic. Amazon remains one of the company's biggest backers. Alphabet is set to become a bigger shareholder.
A $63 Billion Compute Financing Deal
Separately, Wall Street banks and Blackstone are arranging $63 billion in financing for Anthropic. The money is earmarked for Broadcom AI chips and networking equipment, the computing infrastructure that powers its models.
