Eufy Omni S2 Robot Vacuum and Mop

Eufy's flagship Omni S2 pairs ferocious 30,000Pa suction with a genuinely clever ozonated, self-washing roller mop and near-flawless obstacle avoidance — but $1,599 plus proprietary consumables makes it a hard sell for all but the most committed.

3.5 / 5$1,599.00

Pros

  • + Outstanding carpet performance — 87% embedded sand removal, a big leap over the S1
  • + Anti-tangle DuoSpiral brush scored perfectly in hair-wrap testing
  • + Near-flawless obstacle avoidance across both standard and torture tests
  • + Genuinely low-maintenance dock: self-emptying, hot-water mop wash, hot-air dry, ozone sterilisation and auto-detergent dosing
  • + Up to 68 days of debris storage means you can largely forget about it
  • + Tall, narrow dock takes up far less floor space than typical rivals
  • + No LiDAR turret, so it fits under lower furniture
  • + Matter compatible

Cons

  • − Very expensive at $1,599, and reviewers are unanimous on that point
  • − Mopping stain removal measured as below average, with reduced water output
  • − Proprietary detergent (~£20) and fragrance capsules (~£25) add ongoing cost and lock-in
  • − Fragrance module is faint and largely a gimmick — it scents the air, not the floor
  • − Below-average navigation efficiency and coverage per charge
  • − Fine debris scattering on hard floors and inconsistent climbing over taller thresholds
  • − Onboard camera offers no live viewing
  • − Fiddlier setup than most, and the freshwater tank must come out to change the dust bag
  • − App flexibility is divisive; one tester hit a hardware failure needing a replacement unit

The Omni S2 is Eufy trying to win the flagship robot vacuum argument on every front at once. It succeeds the Omni S1 and S1 Pro with a stated 30,000Pa of suction, a HydroJet roller mop that lays down fresh water and immediately lifts the dirty stuff away, and a dock that does very nearly everything: self-emptying into a bag Eufy reckons will last around 68 days, hot-water mop washing, hot-air drying, ozone sterilisation of the water supply, and automatic dosing of its own detergent. There's even a fragrance module that puffs scent into the room as it works, with three capsules in the box.

Two things stand out immediately. The first is the dock's shape — tall and narrow rather than the usual squat sideboard-sized slab, which makes it far easier to find a home for in a normal hallway. The second is the robot itself: no LiDAR turret on the roof, so it should slide under furniture that trips up taller rivals. The trade-off appears to be navigation efficiency, which testers have flagged as below average, along with somewhat modest coverage per charge.

This is a machine aimed squarely at people with a mixed-flooring home, pets, and a budget that doesn't flinch at four figures. If you want one box that vacuums carpet hard, mops hard floors properly, and then cleans itself for weeks at a time, the S2 is pitched directly at you. If you mostly need a bot to keep one floor of hard flooring tidy, this is wild overkill.

On the evidence, the vacuuming is the strongest part of the package. Independent testing has it pulling 87% of embedded sand from carpet — a substantial jump on the S1's 61% — and lifting more than 88% of flattened pet hair, with a perfect score in a long-hair wrap test thanks to the split DuoSpiral brush. That last point matters more than the headline Pascal figure: anti-tangle designs that actually work are rarer than they should be. Obstacle avoidance also looks exceptional, scoring a clean sweep across both standard and deliberately punishing test runs.

The mopping is where the story gets more complicated, and it's oddly the thing Eufy has engineered hardest. The roller system, ozonated water, auto-detergent and hot-wash-and-dry cycle all sound superb on paper, and one tester reported the rollers and bin still looking new after weeks of daily use. Yet stain removal has been measured as below average, with reduced water output cited as a likely culprit. A brilliant hygiene story attached to merely okay scrubbing is a frustrating combination at this price. The fragrance module is a similar case of ambition outpacing usefulness — reported as pleasant but very faint, and it's really just perfuming the air rather than treating the floor.

Then there's the running cost. Detergent and fragrance modules are proprietary Eufy purchases, at roughly £20 and £25 a go respectively, so the $1,599 is a floor rather than a ceiling. Add a fiddlier-than-usual setup, a freshwater tank you must remove before you can swap the dust bag, inconsistent climbing over taller thresholds, fine debris scattering on hard floors, and an onboard camera you can't actually view live, and the polish doesn't quite match the ambition. Reviewer opinion on the app is genuinely split, which is telling in itself, and at least one tester suffered an outright hardware failure requiring a replacement unit — a single data point, but not one you want to see on a flagship.

The Omni S2 earns real admiration for its carpet cleaning, its tangle resistance, its obstacle handling and the sheer low-maintenance ingenuity of that dock. It loses ground for mopping that underdelivers relative to its own hardware, for the locked-in consumables, and for a price that leaves no room for rough edges. Four stars would be easy if it were $500 cheaper; as it stands it's an excellent vacuum wrapped in an expensive, occasionally over-clever package.
