UGREEN NASync DXP4800 Pro
UGREEN's flagship four-bay NAS pairs a 13th-gen Core i3, 10GbE networking and Gen 4 NVMe slots at a price the big names can't match — as long as you can live with UGOS Pro's thin app catalogue.
Pros
- + Genuine 13th-gen Core i3 with 6 cores/8 threads and 4.5GHz turbo — real headroom for Docker and VMs
- + Both 10GbE and 2.5GbE included as standard, rare at this price
- + Two PCIe Gen 4 x4 NVMe slots alongside four hot-swap SATA bays
- + DDR5 expandable to 96GB across two SO-DIMM slots
- + AV1 hardware decode and 4K60 HDMI output for media work
- + Aluminium chassis with large 14cm fan and magnetic dust cover; reported quiet and well built
- + Strong value against the Synology DS925+ and QNAP TS-464 at $679.99
Cons
- − UGOS Pro's native app catalogue (around 29 apps) lags well behind Synology DSM
- − No PCIe expansion slot, so the hardware is fixed at purchase
- − No Thunderbolt 4 — that's reserved for the DXP6800 Pro
- − Higher power draw than the previous-generation model
- − Only 8GB of RAM in the box given the 96GB ceiling
- − Two-year warranty is short for an always-on storage device
The NASync DXP4800 Pro is UGREEN's statement piece in the four-bay category, and it reads like a spec sheet written by someone who got tired of paying more for less. A 13th-gen Core i3-1315U with six cores and eight threads, DDR5 that scales to 96GB across two SO-DIMM slots, four hot-swappable SATA bays, two PCIe Gen 4 NVMe slots and — the headline act — both 10GbE and 2.5GbE on the back panel. At $679.99 that is a genuinely aggressive hardware package against the Synology DS925+ and QNAP TS-464 it's aimed at.
This is a box for people who want their NAS to actually compute, not just store. Docker hosts, a handful of VMs, media processing with AV1 hardware decode in the mix, and small creative teams who'd like to saturate a 10-gigabit link rather than politely queue behind a single gigabit port. The aluminium chassis, 14cm rear fan and magnetic dust cover suggest UGREEN is taking the physical side seriously too — this isn't a plastic box with a badge on it. The one thing it asks in return is patience with UGOS Pro, which is still a young platform.
On hardware, there's very little to argue with. The jump from the Pentium Gold 8505 in the DXP4800 Plus to a full i3 with P-core/E-core split and 4.5GHz turbo is a meaningful generational step, not a marketing refresh, and moving the M.2 slots to PCIe Gen 4 makes SSD caching or an all-flash volume actually worth doing. Dual-rate networking out of the box is the standout: most competitors at this price make you buy into an expansion card to get 10GbE, and this one has no PCIe slot to sell you anyway. Up to 144TB across six drives, the full RAID 5/6/10 complement, a front SD reader and 10Gbps front USB round out a thoughtfully specified machine.
The compromises are real but narrow. There's no Thunderbolt 4 here — the DXP6800 Pro keeps that — and no PCIe expansion, so what you buy is what you get for the life of the unit. TechRadar also flags higher power draw than the previous model, which is the predictable tax on the faster CPU and worth factoring in for an always-on device. The bigger caveat is software: UGOS Pro is clean and improving, but a catalogue of around 29 native apps is a long way short of Synology DSM, and anyone whose workflow depends on a specific first-party app should check compatibility before ordering. Docker takes much of the sting out of this, but it shifts work onto you.
A two-year warranty is adequate rather than reassuring for a device you expect to run for half a decade. Still, the value equation is hard to dispute — this is a lot of silicon and networking for the money, and the software gap is the kind that closes over time rather than a structural flaw. Recommended for the technically confident; those who want everything to just work out of the box should weigh DSM's maturity carefully.
