Samsung Galaxy Buds4 Pro Review

Samsung's flagship earbuds bring a sleeker design, a far more pocketable case and well-regarded noise cancelling. Weak battery scores, no multipoint and Galaxy-only features hold them back.

3.5 / 5

Pros

  • + Well-regarded active noise cancelling
  • + Square charging case is much more pocketable than the Buds3 Pro's
  • + Case charges via USB-C or Qi wireless
  • + Refined stem design with a brushed metal look
  • + Auracast support
  • + Tight integration with Samsung Galaxy phones

Cons

  • − Battery life scored notably weaker than other areas
  • − No multipoint connectivity
  • − Some features exclusive to Samsung phones
  • − No charging cable in the box
  • − Pink Gold colour only sold through Samsung.com

The Galaxy Buds4 Pro sit at the top of Samsung's three-tier earbud lineup, above the FE and standard models. First impressions centre on design. The stemmed, AirPods-style shape now has flat-sided stems with a brushed metal look, replacing the Buds3 Pro's triangular stems and blade lights. To our eyes, that is a more mature and understated look.

The bigger practical win is the case. It returns to a square shape and, while slightly larger than the Buds2 Pro's, it is much more pocket-friendly than the Buds3 Pro's. It also supports both USB-C and Qi wireless charging. Note that no cable comes in the box, so you will need to supply your own.

These are clearly aimed at Android users, and especially Galaxy phone owners. If you use another brand of phone, or switch between several devices, read the caveats in the verdict before buying.

Our assessment rests on a limited set of verified information. We have no confirmed price and no detailed sound-quality findings, so this is not a complete picture. Within those limits, a fairly clear profile emerges.

  • Noise cancelling looks like a strength. SoundGuys scored the active noise cancelling at 8.4. That is a solid result and supports the Pro badge.
  • Battery life is the weak spot. A battery score of 6.2 from the same outlet is notably lower than the other marks. For flagship earbuds, that is a meaningful compromise.
  • Connectivity is a mixed bag. Auracast support is forward-looking. However, the lack of multipoint is a frustrating omission at the top of the range, especially for anyone juggling a phone and a laptop.
  • The ecosystem cuts both ways. Galaxy owners get tight integration. Some features are exclusive to Samsung phones, though, which shrinks the appeal for everyone else.
  • The redesign is a step forward. The new case is far more pocketable than its predecessor's, and wireless charging is a welcome convenience.

Overall, the Buds4 Pro look like a sensible choice for Galaxy phone owners who prioritise noise cancelling and a compact case. They are a harder sell for anyone who needs multipoint, longer battery life or full features on a non-Samsung phone. Without pricing or deeper sound-quality data, we would treat this rating as provisional.
