OpenAI Brings GPT-6 to Every ChatGPT Tier, Debuting 'Intelligent UI' Interactive Answers

Editorial team

GPT-6 and Intelligent UI Arrive in ChatGPT

On October 7, 2026, OpenAI introduced Intelligent UI, a feature that lets ChatGPT answer questions with fully interactive user interfaces rather than text alone. It arrives alongside GPT-6, which is now coming to every ChatGPT tier.

The rollout began on October 7 for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users. A day later, on October 8, it expanded to the Free and Go tiers.

That puts the new experience in front of a very large audience. OpenAI said ChatGPT is used by more than 1.2 billion people each week.

What Intelligent UI Responses Look Like

With Intelligent UI, ChatGPT's answers are no longer limited to blocks of text. Responses can include elements that users interact with directly in the conversation, such as:

  • Graphics
  • Tappable buttons
  • Forms
  • Charts
  • Diagrams
  • Other interactive experiences

Text isn't going away. ChatGPT can still give a simple text answer when that is most useful.

Users can also ask ChatGPT to build small tools on request. OpenAI's examples include a bill splitter, a calculator for exploring savings growth, and games playable inside the conversation.

OpenAI's Demo: Planning a Sunday Lamb Roast

To show the difference, OpenAI demonstrated the feature with a Sunday lamb roast plan.

Given the request, GPT-6 Instant produced three things:

  • Images
  • A shopping-quantity calculator that adjusts to the number of guests
  • A cooking timeline checklist

For comparison, GPT-5.6 Instant gave a text-heavy answer to the same request. The contrast illustrates the shift OpenAI is aiming for: replacing a wall of instructions with tools the user can work with.

How It Works Under the Hood

Intelligent UI is built on a library of native, streamable components. A compiler processes the interface as the model generates it, so the interactive elements are assembled as the response is produced.

Speed is part of the pitch too. GPT-6 can start answering while it is still thinking, which OpenAI says makes responses quicker.

Which GPT-6 Model You Get, and Where

The GPT-6 model you get depends on your plan:

  • Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise: GPT-6 Sol
  • Free and Go: GPT-6 Luna

GPT-6 is limited to the Chat tab. The models used for Work and Codex are not changing.

This release builds on an earlier step. OpenAI introduced the first GPT-6 models for paid customers in September 2026, and the October rollout extends GPT-6 to all tiers.
